I remember as a child the times that I felt I was running without boundaries, rules or regulations, and just the security of my parents that everything would be just fine. I felt safe. My ego was not comparing my freedom or ability by what other kids did or had. I was just me and that felt good. I could become anything I desired and limits were not a part of my thinking.

Adults are always asking kids what they want to be when they grow up because they are looking for ideas. –PAULA POUNDSTONE

As a child I was not out of control on the contraire I was a good example. As least that is what my parents thought. I was running free and the world was mine. Know that feeling? Do I want to be a doctor, lawyer, fireman, President of the United States, or just work with my dad for the rest of my life? It was my decision and no one else to tell me NO. I was a kid running free.

WHAT KEEPS US FROM RUNNING FREE TODAY?

What do others think of me? Automatically this thinking has limiting and struggling beliefs. It distributes your power to others and you lose control. You lose control of your dreams and the ability to grow as a business person and a healthy human being. The effects are much more than income. It affects your relationships, your self-esteem and others around you. Leading becomes impossible and joy becomes a memory from a time when you thought you were running free.

What does my ego tell me? That I have to prove that I am right and that I must manipulate what others think so I don’t disappoint myself. I lose the ability to grow and ask for help. Why? I am no longer running free but at the mercy of justifying what I do instead of learning a better way of doing it. I stopped being a child and became an adult. Oh for the days of just running free.

Am I good at what I do? Am I leading effectively? Do others suffer because I have stopped asking for help or being open about my desire to grow? These questions are never asked by a child. The answers are simply their way of being. Remember the times when we were curious and always asking a ton of questions? Did a parent ever tell you to stop asking so many questions? Now we are adults and are assumed to have all the answers. What a tragedy that we no longer run free.

How do I know if I am good at what I do? The child never asks that question because he or she just enjoys the life and waits for the next big adventure. The adult compares himself/herself to what others are doing. This is a shallow and crippling thought-process. This behavior is a ceiling to growth. You will never run free if you are comparing yourself to others. Recently an office was rewarded the #1 in the company and everyone felt so good. But what are they comparing themselves too? If 10 other offices are mediocre and you are a bit better then what have you accomplished? You are the Top #1 Producing Office of the Mediocre. Remove the ceiling of your comparing yourself to others and begin to run free without hesitation. Feel good if you must for being #1 but only for a time. Allow you to be the only ceiling you have and then you are running free. You are as powerful as a child running free and the world is yours.

The Conclusion: Remove the fear. Take the step. Become a child and start over by asking questions. Let go of the thought that you have to prove your self-worthiness and stand behind what you have done in the past. Let it go and learn. The child may not be as wise as you but at least he/she is running free.

Last evening I was reading a book for the second time. I had read it about 5 years ago and decided that it was time again. Can you believe how much the book had changed? How can that be? It is the same copy that I previously read and thought it was a great book. The reality is that I had changed. I am not in the same place, mind or emotions as I was 5 years ago. The book is exactly the same. Needless to say, it is much better this time around. I am learning new things about me and my business.

If you desire to find new solutions for your business then now is the time to search deep inside. Think about treating your business like a living, breathing entity and much less like a possession that you own. You will treat your business like a person and will find solutions for each aspect of it. Trust me, you will no longer neglect certain things because you are not good at them or that they don’t interest you. You will search for answers and you will find.

Look at your business like your child. If you had a child that came home from school telling you about how well he/she did on a math test then you would be thrilled. If the next sentence was that he/she failed an English exam then you would change your tune. WHY? Because you desire the best for your child in every area of life, you will do whatever it takes to help them be successful.

Do you treat your training program as a child or a possession? Do you have a training program?

Do you like the way your employees treat the client or customer? Have they been trained?

Does your website look the very best? Or are you trying to just get by and let everyone at least know that you have one? Does it make your proud by passing the test or did it fail?

Is your follow up system in great shape? Does everyone get a follow up that comes into your business? We spend so much time getting people to come to us and so little money getting them to come back. What a waste of money.

Is your marketing like your competition or does it standout? How is it different or how does it make your competition irrelevant?

When we consider that price is not the only important thing then we begin to treat our business like a living, breathing and thriving entity. Breathe life into it. Give it the best. Let it live and grow. Stop treating it like you are the CEO and give it a chance to give back to you what you deserve.

Send me your thoughts: phil@phillamb.com

Bottled water in your car is very dangerous!

On the Ellen show, Sheryl
Crow said this is what caused her breast
cancer. It has been identified as the most common cause
of the high levels of dioxin in breast cancer
tissue.

Sheryl Crow’s oncologist told her: women should not drink bottled water that has been left in a car.
The heat reacts with the chemicals in the plastic of the bottle which releases dioxin into the water. Dioxin is a toxin increasingly found in breast cancer tissue. So please be careful and do not drink bottled water that has been left in a car. Pass this on to all the women in your life.

This information is the kind we need to know that just might save us! Use a stainless steel canteen or a glass bottle instead of plastic!

LET EVERYONE WHO HAS A WIFE / GIRLFRIEND / DAUGHTER KNOW PLEASE!

This information is also being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center .
No plastic containers in microwave.
No water bottles in freezer

No plastic wrap in microwave.
A dioxin chemical causes cancer, especially breast cancer.

Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don’t freeze your plastic
bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic. Recently, Edward
Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital , was on a TV program to explain this health
hazard.

He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us.

He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers…
This especially applies to foods that contain fat.

He said that the combination of fat, high heat,=2 0and plastic releases
dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body… Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food… You get the same results, only without the dioxin.
So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be
removed from the container and heated in something else.

Paper isn’t bad but you don’t know what is in the paper.

It’s just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food
restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons….

Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran wrap, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and
drip into the food.

Cover food with a paper towel instead.

Aloha Friends,

As you may know, I sit on the Board for the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC). I thought I would pass this along. In addition, if anyone would like to volunteer with the MRC, you do not need a medical background. There are many other needs and our members come from all walks of life.

The Hawaii Dept. of Health and its response partners continue to work on increasing emergency preparedness for the citizens of the State of Hawaii. Although the Swine Influenza A (H1N1) situation around the world changes daily, there are still no confirmed cases in Hawaii at this time.

The important messages for preventing the spread of any flu remain the same:

§ Wash your hands with soap and water often.

§ Use good cough etiquette. Cough and sneeze into your sleeve or a tissue, not your hands.

§ Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.

§ Avoid close contact with others who may be sick.

You can help as a Medical Reserve Corps ambassador to your community by educating friends, families, and neighbors about how prevent the spread of flu year-round, and explaining the importance of having a personal and family preparedness plan and supplies. This will help not only for a possible increase in flu cases, but for the upcoming hurricane season too.

Please see the bottom of this page for a message from the Office of the Surgeon General, which discusses an important role that MRC volunteers can serve.

Additional information is available at:

§ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website: http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/

§ Swine Flu Information Line, toll-free, open from Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on weekends from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This information line is operated by Rocky Mountain Poison Control Center and sponsored by the Hawaii Dept. of Health.

Mahalo, and stay well!

Carol “cj”

Have you ever thought much about time? What do we really mean when we say, “what time is it?” Or, “next time”, or “what time do I have to be home?”

What exactly is time? Where does it come from? How does it impact our lives? Do we all perceive time in the same way?

Maybe we think about it more as we get older because we feel we may be running out of time. But then I ask myself,” What does that mean; running out of time?” As if our lives only have a certain amount of time. Well, we do, don’t we?

No one knows exactly how much time each of us has on this earth. That uncertainty is truly a great thing, if we choose to look at it that way. Time is the reminder that we need to move forward; that we need to complete our task. It’s what makes the world go around. (Or does the world going around make time? Just a thought.)

We have this gift of LIFE, and the amount of time each of us has here on earth is our allowance. We get to Choose how we spend that allowance. We can squander our time so that we amount to mediocrity, at best or we can invest our time wisely and make it work for us, thus accomplishing GREAT things.

Yes, some individuals get more allowance than others and we do not know why.

But, for any given moment we all have the same amount of time. Time is the great equalizer. Just as a dollar is a dollar, whether you are rich or poor, an hour is an hour whether you are successful or a loser. It is often the loser however, who has failed to make time work for him.

We all have the same 24 hours in a day. What we do with that (allowance) makes us who we are. Look at the people around you. Look at yourself. We all are a product of the decisions we make multiplied by time. In it’s rawest form, nothing more than a math equation, really. But look at what we as a people, and as individuals have accomplished. Think about what we can accomplish.

Clearly, Michael Jordan was a gifted athlete. But, he didn’t wake up one day and find himself as one of the greatest basketball players, ever. He invested his time and lots of it.

All he did was to recognize he had talent and choose to spend his time perfecting his skills to an almost superhuman level.

Yet time is what makes us human. It defines us as mortal. Once we are immortal, there will be no real need for time. Thus, I wonder, are there clocks in Heaven? Our earthly concern for time sets us apart from all other living things. It is our allowance, and it is a test! Each one of us has talent in one form or another. How will we utilize the time given to us?

Just as money can make us feel good or drive us to destruction, time can do the same. It is a complex entity and as all things complex, it is held together with paradox. Time heals and yet it destroys. You’ll learn about the therapeutic and healing effects of time when you lose something or someone you truly love. On the other hand, wind and rain by themselves can’t destroy a mountain, but add the element of time and a mountain can be turned into sand or a river into a canyon. Time distorts and yet it clarifies. We never remember things quite the way they were and yet we honor books, movies, and music by calling them classics if they stand the test of time.

Where is time? Is it outside our minds in the physical world or is it in our minds and part of our soul? Maybe both, I don’t know.

Perception of time is the only thing about time that we can truly control within our earthly confines.

Time is what we make of it. If you look through a telescope at the moon and find it to be blurry, do you bring the moon into focus by adjusting the moon or do you adjust the telescope? Well, it is the same with time. You can’t change time but you can adjust yourself to see time differently.

You already do this all the time, maybe without ever realizing it. An hour in the dentist chair feels very different than an hour watching a good movie, or reading a great book. We can choose how we perceive time and if you adopt this viewpoint, you can accomplish many and Great things.

A good and true perception of time brings us closer to full and true happiness. Pure happiness exists inside those timeless moments. Think about it. When you have been at your happiest, were you thinking about what time it was?

Compare that with an inappropriate or unhealthy perception of time. There may be a direct correlation between time and disease or illness. Of course time will get us all in the end. One of the biggest things we stress over in modern society is time. Again, just think about schedules, due dates, and timelines. These time pressures contribute to many diseases, such as high blood pressure, over eating, mental illness to name a few. Clearly, in our lives we can try to ignore our daily schedules and try to stay in those timeless moments.

However, if we always tried to do this we wouldn’t get anything done. Again, time is the reminder for us to move forward.

We can learn how to manage time by adjusting ourselves. We need to know when to pay attention to clocks and schedules and when to put them out of our minds.

To do this, ask yourself one simple question and answer silently but honestly. “Is what I am doing right now the best use of this allowance called time that has been given to me?” Am I investing my time wisely so that I will get a big pay back in the future?

We are WHAT we are today because of how we have spent our given and limited amount of time thus far. We become WHO we are because of our accumulated experiences over time. WISDOM!! Most of our time should be spent creating, exploring, or learning and sharing.

As I begin to gain a little wisdom I begin to realize that the gift of time that others give to me or that I can give back is so much more meaningful than a material gift. That’s because time is such a precious entity.

I don’t think it is a coincidence that the word present can mean “right now” and can also mean “a gift”. God gave us the gift of life and an allowance of time to spend freely as we see fit. We can reflect on our past and see into our future but we LIVE in the PRESENT(our gift of time).

One of the best ways we can show thankfulness for this gift is to use it wisely. To live each moment fully.

We have heard many people say, “I don’t have enough time right now to read, exercise right now.” What they really mean is that these things are not important enough to spend time on.

Remember this; we are who we are because of who we were only a moment ago.

We will become who we will be only a moment from now.

The clock is ticking. Our CHOICES in the present moment lead us to our future.

Invest wisely and the paybacks will be great.

Invest in yourself and those you love.

Nutritionist and author Jonny Bowden has created several lists of healthful foods people should be eating but aren’t. But some of his favorites, like purslane, guava and goji berries, aren’t always available at regular grocery stores. Dr. Bowden, author of “The 150 Healthiest Foods on Earth,” updated his list with some favorite foods that are easy to find but don’t always find their way into our shopping carts. Here’s his advice.

Beets: Think of beets as red spinach, Dr. Bowden said, because they are a rich source of folate as well as natural red pigments that may be cancer fighters.
How to eat: Fresh, raw and grated to make a salad. Heating decreases the antioxidant power.

Cabbage: Loaded with nutrients like sulforaphane, a chemical said to boost cancer-fighting enzymes.
How to eat: Asian-style slaw or as a crunchy topping on burgers and sandwiches.

Swiss chard: A leafy green vegetable packed with carotenoids that protect aging eyes.
How to eat it: Chop and saute in olive oil. I also put it on pizza as a topping with sauted spinach and garlic! YUM

Cinnamon: May help control blood sugar and cholesterol.
How to eat it: Sprinkle on coffee or oatmeal.

Pomegranate juice: Appears to lower blood pressure and loaded with antioxidants.
How to eat: Just drink it.

Dried plums: Okay, so they are really prunes, but they are packed with antioxidants.
How to eat: Wrapped in prosciutto and baked.

Pumpkin seeds: The most nutritious part of the pumpkin and packed with magnesium; high levels of the mineral are associated with lower risk for early death.
How to eat: Roasted as a snack, or sprinkled on salad.

Sardines: Dr. Bowden calls them “health food in a can.” They are high in omega-3’s, contain virtually no mercury and are loaded with calcium. They also contain iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, copper and manganese as well as a full complement of B vitamins.
How to eat: Choose sardines packed in olive or sardine oil. Eat plain, mixed with salad, on toast, or mashed with dijon mustard and onions as a spread.

Turmeric: The “superstar of spices,” it may have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties.
How to eat: Mix with scrambled eggs or in any vegetable dish.

Frozen blueberries: Even though freezing can degrade some of the nutrients in fruits and vegetables, frozen blueberries are available year-round and don’t spoil; associated with better memory in animal studies.
How to eat: Blended with yogurt or chocolate soy milk and sprinkled with crushed almonds.

Canned pumpkin: A low-calorie vegetable that is high in fiber and immune-stimulating vitamin A; fills you up on very few calories.
How to eat: Mix with a little butter, cinnamon and nutmeg.

In my own house, I use manyof these items except Sardines. for my omega 3, I buy wild salmon when available and I supplement my diet with MOXXOR (from the green lip mussel) SEE www.mymoxxor.com/hawaii for more information.— pumpkin seeds, which I often roast and put on salads, and frozen blueberries, which I mix with milk, yogurt and other fruits for morning smoothies. How about you? Have any of these foods found there way into your shopping cart?
